Mission Statement

The Leon County Schools' Foundation seeks to provide leadership to the larger community in pursuit of the highest standards of quality and performance in Leon County Schools.

Overview of Programs

The Leon County Schools' Foundation, Inc. sponsors five grant programs:

Mini-Grants
This program is the cornerstone of our services.  Grants are awarded in amounts up to $1,000.  Through this program, the Foundation places funds directly into the hands of public school teachers to enhance student learning.

T.I.P.S. Grants
Teaching Innovative and Practical Strategies (TIPS) was established as a district wide teacher networking process for sharing the most effective teaching methods or projects already in use in Leon County Schools. These grants reward teachers who have developed successful classroom practices and desire funding to promote and enhance their project. TIPS winners receive $500 to present a visual display of their teaching strategies and to be available to answer questions at the Foundation's annual TIPS Showcase.

Adapter Grants
These grants give teachers the opportunity to implement tried and true teaching practices that have been implemented by TIPS award winners the previous year. Recipients of the Adapter grants are awarded $250 to implement these ideas in their own classrooms.

PEP (Pre-Purchased Education Products) Grants
Several educational products that are often requested by teachers are pre-purchased and awarded by the Foundation to teachers submitting selected proposals. (calculators, Franklin Spellers, AlphaSmarts, tape recorders and head sets, etc…).

Technology Grants
The Foundation along with the Leon County Schools' Title VI Innovative Education Strategies Program, awards teams of teachers up to $2,500 for innovative technology based projects.
